Description:
Solar Chariot
The Chariot image is a black and white drawing.
The chariot is a short single-cloth tube-frame beach chair mounted on an aluminum platform that is about 3 feet long by 2 feet wide.
The front wheel is a fat tire with tube about 1 foot in diameter and 6 inches wide. The steering shaft is located in the front center of the chair and extends up from the front tire. A steering bar extends from the shaft toward the drivers chair. The steering control handle on the end of the bar operates by pivoting the front tire and has a squeeze mechanism to power the drive mechanism at the rear wheels.
The rear wheels are spoked bicycle rims about 2 feet in diameter. The drive power comes from a battery powered drill mounted on the platform and with a drive wheel on it. The drill drives a belt. The belt wraps around the right rear wheel rim to drive the chariot.
